Who Run The World (Girls) – Fashion Review

Most people know how I feel about Beyoncé…It’s a love/hate relationship! BUT I MUST say that I LOVED the styling of the video and I do like the track…

So here’s the run down on what she wore.

1. A red Alexander McQueen Fall/Winter 2010 dress with embroidered gold detail and thigh-high, gold-heeled Alexander McQueen Grinling Gibbons, same collection.

2. She shakes up her booty in a black Norma Kamali fringed garment with a Giuseppe Zanotti golden harness and black bustier, continuing the fringe down to some Alexander Wang heels.

3. A quick glimpse of the white Givenchy Spring/Summer 2011 Couture gown.

4. All slow motion in the dark Jean Paul Gaultier Spring/Summer 2011 Couture outfit with a tailcoat and heavy cut-outs.

5. With the car in flames behind her, she gets into an mini Gareth Pugh Fall/Winter 2011 turtleneck dress and gold-mirrored Gareth Pugh ankle boots.

6. Then during the dance break, she breaks out the gold-embroidered Emilio Pucci Spring/Summer 2010 yellow dress paired with studded and feathered Sergio Rossi Gladiator boots.

7. Then finally, Emilio Pucci number two; a long-sleeved goddess gown in green with a thigh-high split and sequined sleeve from Fall/Winter 2011.

Aviator Jacket for Autumn/Winter 2010 Season

A new ‘must-have’ item, right in time for the Autumn/Winter season,  ready to be added to my Birthday/Christmas wish list and your shopping list is…….. (drum roll) The Aviator Jacket!

Also known as ‘The Flying Jacket’, this style of jacket hit the streets immediately after Burberry’s London Fashion Week show back in February. On Net-a-porter.com, the leather Burberry aviator jacket sold out in several sizes in quick succession!

I have seen people wear this jacket with pretty much anything, but the key words, when it comes to the Aviator are ‘simple’ and ‘minimal’. With all of the fur and zips and whatnot, there is no need to spill the contents of your accessories draw over yourself before leaving the house (as tempting as it may be).

Having tried on a few jackets I have come to the following conclusion: If you have big erm…‘assets’, leave the jacket unbuttoned. Being top heavy, squashing your ‘stuff’ together and zipping up the jacket, may seem like best idea in the world, but it is not. Trust me!! That being said, be sure to dress for your body shape, whatever that may be. There are different cuts and lengths of this jacket to suit everybody.

Wear natural look make-up, teaming the jacket with colours such as: Black, coffee, navy and camel. I love bright colours, but I wouldn’t push my luck with this type of jacket. I tried it and it didn’t give off the desired effect and just looked gaudy!

I plan on rocking a Black Aviator jacket, cream lace vest top, tucked into Camel Coloured, slouchy (but tailored) trousers and Office’s ‘Between Your Teeth’ heels (which have zip detailing), with my signature bright blue, Barry M nails. What do you think?

The Aviator Jacket

Do you like ‘The Aviator Jacket’? If not, why?  If you love it as much as I do, how will you rock yours? Feel free to leave a comment and let me know what you think.

Untold Season VI at London Fashion Week

After the unrivalled success of their Spring/Summer show Untold returned this AW 10 to showcase not one but 9 designers during one catwalk show with the Grand Hall at the Battersea Arts Centre as a stunning backdrop.

Untold was born through the desire to succeed and progress in the cut throat world of fashion. Financial constraints make it difficult for designers and artists to platform their work. Untold changes this and ensures that designers are seen, heard and understood to make their vision a reality.

Designers on the Untold catwalk this season included: Chichia London, Gevorgian, Ma:LE, Lana Luk, Mononoko, Desiderata, Chrissiefizz, Pia Love and Bestow Elan.

Check out our very own Lisa Maffia in the front row!
